A Whiter Shade of Pale

 We skipped the light fandango
 우린 가볍게 판딩고 춤을 추고 있었지
 Turned cartwheels 'cross the floor
 바닥을 휘저으며 여러번 옆으로 도는 묘기도 보여 주었지
 I was feeling kinda seasick
 그러자 배멀미 하는 것 처럼 속이 좀 메스꺼워 졌어
But the crowd called out for more
 하지만 사람들은 더 해보라고 소리쳤지
 The room was humming harder
 실내는 환호성으로 가득 차서
 As the ceiling flew away
 마치 천장이 떠나갈 듯 했지
 When we called out for another drink
 우린 술을 더 가져오라고 소리쳤고
 The waiter brought a tray
 웨이터가 술을 가져왔어

 And so it was that later
 그리고 한참 지난 후에
 As the miller told his tale
 바텐더가 그가 들었던 이야기를 들려 주었지
 That her face, at first just ghostly
 그녀의 얼굴색이 처음에는 유령과 같은 잿빛이었다가
 Turned a whiter shade of pale
 새하얗게 창백한 모습으로 변했었다고...

 She said, 'There is no reason
 And the truth is plain to see.'
 그녀는 말했지 "이유는 없어요 그리고 그건 확실한 사실이예요"
 But I wandered through my playing cards
 하지만 나는 트럼프 카드만 뒤적거렸었지
 And would not let her be
 One of sixteen vestal virgins
 Who were leaving for the coast
 그리고 그녀가 속세로 떠나가는 16명의 성녀 중 하나 처럼 되게 놔두지는 않겠다고 다짐했지
 And although my eyes were open
 내 눈은 떠있었지만
 They might have just as well've been closed
 그녀 생각에 감은 것과 다른 게 없었지

 And so it was that later
